The talent and dedication of the team behind ESI Monitor and FutureTrack are what make us who we are today. This week, we want you to get to know our Digital Lead, Nathan McOwen.
Nathan joined ESI Monitor earlier this year and has already cemented himself as a vital member of the team. His digital expertise and keen interest in sustainability have allowed us to make FutureTrack the sophisticated and accessible platform it is today.
We did a little Q&A with Nathan. Learn all about his background, current role, and more, below.
Q: What is your professional background?
A: I spent most of my early career working in restaurants. While working as an assistant manager in a restaurant, I applied to study Computer Science at university. After that, I worked as a freelance web designer and green hosting provider.
Q: What do you do at ESI/FutureTrack?
A: I joined ESI Monitor in March 2022 as the Digital Lead. My role is focused on the background operations of our platform with the assistance of some great technology! My main goal has been to assist in the development of our sustainability management platform – FutureTrack. I regularly get to collaborate with members of the team so that we can continually improve our products and services. This includes finding creative solutions to improve the automation and efficiency of the platform and the company.
Q: Describe what drives you?
A: I have always been passionate about sustainability – in every sense. And I’ve always been passionate about technology. I love that as technology improves, we can use it to make huge strides towards a more sustainable future. It is great to be a part of that.
Q: What do you want to achieve with ESI/FutureTrack?
A: I love being a part of something that is dedicated to improving sustainability through technology. I want to help everyone see that being sustainable benefits everyone and I want to make it easy for everyone to accomplish.
Q: What’s the best thing about working for ESI/FutureTrack?
A: I feel so lucky to work in a place where, every day, I can put my passions of sustainability and technology to good use. I also get the chance to learn new things and improve my own skills every single day.
Q: Tell us about your interests outside of work
A: I play drums so I try to practice almost every day. I might try joining a band again someday! I also love to learn new things so I try to take courses about things I find interesting when I have the time.
